Danny Lui

In Memoriam: January 7, 1957 – July 1, 2012

Danny Lui (Lui Tam Ping) was of one of SCV's founding partners. Danny's modesty, quiet brilliance and smiling presence were both an inspiration and a comfort to all who knew him.

Danny is best known for co-founding Lenovo (Legend) Computer. He subsequently founded two of China's earliest venture capital firms (Authosis and Legend), enabling a new generation of Chinese entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams while helping to diversify China's economy.

Danny constantly challenged himself, and those around him, to greater heights - in recent years becoming one of Hong Kong's first private helicopter pilots and piloting his helicopter not just in Hong Kong but also in the San Francisco Bay Area.

But more than anything, Danny loved to share his joy of life with friends and family - especially with trips on his beloved boat to his favorite Rainbow Seafood Restaurant on Lamma Island, Hong Kong.

That's how we'll always think of Danny - inspiring young entrepreneurs and doing the simple things he loved with friends and family.

Danny, we miss you immensely. Thank you for touching so many and making us all better people.
